What Is Pet Photography?
Three years before this journalist has questioned how her life was going. She just did not lose a brother but also her job. Now she just had her dog and her photography. In addition she had www.dogumentarian.com her website and her business concept.
It was not long until she decided to take pictures with dogs from her home in San Francisco and then use black and white to give it a more dramatic feel. Her background and style contributed to how her work became something out of the ordinary. Her way of shooting was unlike what the typical pet photographers was documentary in style. The main difference for studio photographers and hobbyists is that the latter does it because they love it and money is nothings to them. But I'm a photojournalist, and I apply that documentary style to my work with dogs.
Using only whatever is available this photographer works on location. Essentially patience helps her get the job done. While working with the dogs she also makes it a point to get to know them. She just wants the dog to be its real self in front of the camera and not acting or performing.
Despite her clients not being that well off, she manages to charge them around $200 to $500 because one portrait would take are about ten hours to finish. Normally she would entertain people like single women, gay couples, and more traditional families without children or whose children are grown.
