What kind of paint do I use?
I want to paint my coffee table in the style of Mackenzie Childs. Hand painted details, like art on the table, but I don't what type of paint to use. And I don't know what to use as a finish or sealant to help protect it. Does anyone know? If you've seen her furniture, you can better understand what I'm talking about.

Acrylics are usually the paint used for this kind of job. It is similar to oil paints with an added advantage of being able to dry quickly. Prepare the surface of the table by sealing it with acrylic medium or gesso because wood is inherently porous and it will simply soak up the liquid you apply on it.
Several coats of varnish is usually applied to protect your painting from pollution in the atmosphere and abrasion. It will also bring out the colors to the brilliance they had when you applied them.
