Who else is looking forward to the "Robotech" live action film?
I am! Is going to be based on the "Macross" saga.
The production for it is going very slow. But, it's better for the producers to take their time and put out a good movie than rush it and make a piece of crap.
So, I'll be patient and wait for a good film representation of the "Robotech" saga.
BONUS QUESTION: Tobey Maguire has cast himself for the "Rick Hunter" role. He is a hell of a good reaction actor which fits in the action type of films. But, I don't think Tobey would make a good "Rick Hunter". Rick Hunter's age in the "Macross" era is about 19-20 years old. Tobey looks too old to play a 20 year old.
So, which actor do you think would be the ideal "Rick Hunter"?
And, which ever actress gets the role of "Lynn Minmay" will be lucky and rise to stardom. The "Lynn Minmay" character is a charismatic character.
Sorry but I think you're going to be disappointed. Macross was, what, 30-plus half-hour episodes (i.e. 15-plus hours' worth of story)? And it's going to be compressed into a 120-150 minute movie? They'll have to leave out so much, it won't be the story you love any more. Plus it'll (have to) be 90% computer-animated anyway. Stick with the original, would be my advice.
And Tobey Maguire looks about 12 anyway--so why shouldn't he play a 20 year old? (Remember, Peter Parker was still in high school in the first Spiderman movie).
